This course shows how to practically avoid mistakes several HR managers make due to limited knowledge of their legal responsibilities. Areas of emphasis include employment discrimination, sexual harassment, employment contracts (implied and expressed), wrongful termination, employee leave, privacy issues, wage and salary issues and workplace violence.

COURSE CONTENTS

Topics to be discussed during this seminar include:
  • Understand the legal implications of the HR function
  • Ensure HR contracts and policies are labour law compliant
  • Master the legal procedures to follow when trying to dismiss an employee who is incompetent or underperforming
  • Know when and how a written or verbal warning can and must be issued.
  • Outlining the rights all employees have and how they can be infringed upon
  • Examining the legal space for employee recruitment
  • Defining the forms of harassment & discrimination and how a company must deal with complaints.
